Hexenstieg Accomodation at Osterode am Harz

• Hotel Harzer Hof as the first hotel at the Harzer Hexenstieg – In my own hotel I offer a lot of Hexenstieg specials. Further you can park your car up to 5 days in hotel parking garage (on your own risk)
• Youth hostel Osterode – 200m away from the starting point.
• Eulenburg Camping – ca. 1,5km away from the starting point. But I recommend to take the way to the „Sösetalsperre“ and up to the „Eselsplatz“

Car parking at the starting point

There is directly at the starting point a free car parking. But please have an eye on special sign which forbid the car parking during a period of time. You can see on the picture that there’s enough space for many cars.

Arrival by train

The city of Osterode am Harz has 2 train stops. The better one is „Osterode Mitte“. Then the starting point is 2km away.

Transfers by bus or train

According to my experience I can recommend to take the bus either the train. The Harz is devided to 3 main districts and that makes it difficult. But it’s nice (and expensive) to take the historical train „Brockenbahn“ from the Brocken down to Schierke.

Way back to Osterode am Harz

You can take the train at Hbf Thale to Osterode Mitte. It takes 3 hours and costs less than €30,00 per person. Or just tkae a cap. It takes 60 min – about €70,00 per car. I recommend to call a cab company in advance.

Why you need a cab at the Hexenstieg ?

• Bagage transportation
• Tranfer to the hotel if it is far away from the track
• If you get injured.

Please have in your mind that you have to wait for a cab up to 45min !!!

• Altenau im Ort Sparkasse gegenüber von der Bäckerei Mook
• Auf dem Brocken ist am Eingang des Touristensaals ein Automat
• Thale (wird noch erkundet)
• in der Ortschaften Torfhaus, 3-Annen-Hohne, Königshütte, Rübeland, Altenbrak und Treseburg habe ich noch keinen Automaten gesehen.
